What is a VisaScreen Certificate?
A VisaScreen Certificate is issued by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). It is required of all foreign trained nurses and physical therapists coming to the United States to work as a healthcare professional. The VisaScreen Certificate is an educational review, licensure review, English language assessment and predictive examination for nurses.
If I am a registered nurse, do I need to complete the NCLEX-RN examination in order to complete my VisaScreen process?
Yes, you will need to have your NCLEX-RN.
Do I need a VisaScreen Certificate if I am a Canadian entering the United States on a "TN" visa to work as a nurse?
Yes, pursuant to Section 343 of the Illegal Immigration Reform Act of 1996, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service will require that you possess a VisaScreen Certificate prior to being admitted as a TN.
